Seattle Bee Works supports local Seattle honeybees by managing backyard beehives while teaching the practical skills needed to be successful in the art of keeping bees. Currently, our intensive year-long apprenticeship is provided at no cost for those accepted into the program. Instead of charging for this valuable program, I want to keep this beekeeping training accessible to those willing to commit to a year of hive management in return for the rewards of learning the practical skills and art of keeping bees. However, beekeeping is not inexpensive. Each hive setup costs in the range of $250 and the hours of training and support required for each apprentice over the course of the year can quickly add up. So!  If you’d like to support the efforts of Seattle Bee Works in setting up new beehives and educating new beekeepers, you can donate here.

Please help investigators find who started the fire that eventually spread to Gatlinburg #gsmnp #gatlinburg

East Tennessee is my home and I really can't begin to express how painful it is to watch the news and see the impact of the devastating fires. Please keep the people of the Gatlinburg area in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to assess the damage and start the clean up process. If you don't live in the area and would like to help in some small way, you can make an easy $10 donation to American Red Cross by texting "REDCROSS" to 90999

Many people don't know that Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the few national parks that doesn't charge entrance fees. Over 9 million visitors per year get to enjoy the park for free. Many of the park improvements are funded by Friends of the Smokies due to the lack of entrance fee revenue. Please consider a small donation to @smokiesfriends - they will be heavily involved in the restoration of the park.
